Shark makes a great vacuum. I am a house cleaner and use a similar one for my business. I wanted one for my house but didn't want to pay the $300 price tag these usually go for.The refurbished one works really well so far. I could see a few hairs in the filter and some caught in the roller bar but overall it was very clean and smelled new.In my last photo you can see where they repaired a piece that holds the second roller bar. I hope it holds up.Otherwise, the suction is great, it works like new, and you can't beat the anti hair wrap thing Shark has going on. Literally never gets hair wrapped around the beater bar which is sooooo nice. The attachment keeps falling off it's little storage spot while I'm vacuuming but it's not a big deal.Vacuumed with my 2 year old Shark DXL about 4 hours before. I have one large medium long haired white dog, who shreds all year round, and various shades of rugs, tan apartment carpet, and dark "wood" floors. This Shark Apex which is the same base model and power (1350 watts) as the az1002, but a different color with slightly different accessories. I also tried a weaker model of the Shark Apex line, it was weaker than my old DLX model and weaker than this one, same zero clean and brush. This more powerful Apex Az1000 is worth the money. Cleans all the types of flooring in my home. Several passes got 95% of the remaining hair up. Not all the hair came out of the carpets or rugs, but maybe because it's been ground since I got here and got these rugs. I think the more I use the vacuum, the more hair, allergens, particles, etc will come out.Even if this is the best I get for hair removal, it's still much better than I had and I can vacuum all the floors in the home. So two big wins.I'm not sure about the size of the dust cup. My old DLX looks like the dust cup is twice as big. It doesn't "lift away", but I've had Shark for 5 years now, I dont think I've ever needed or wanted that feature. I have wanted a longer hose and a bottom heavy vacuum so when I use the hose it doesn't topple over immediately. I could care less about the body being smaller so I can tote it around with me. Maybe it's for people with stairs in the home, but I don't know that the majority of Americans are really affording two story places these days. A bigger can, that needs to be emptied less, that would be fabulous. Or maybe the smaller can somehow gives the vacuum more suction... I don't know.I bought this renewed for $194+, I think it's definitely worth that. I wouldn't spend more than that on it though. If you are on a budget don't cheap out and get a less model Apex. The lesser Apex Sharks (less than 1350 watts of power) are not even worth buying. Get a DLX, they are generally about $129. They are more powerful motor / suctionwise.I am more than satisfied with my purchase. I definitely feel like I got a brand new product... I couldn't tell the difference. Works as intended too. The vacuum itself came with all its parts and manual, packaged like new. The vacuum works great and works as advertised. Suction on this is pretty strong and such a quiet vacuum. I have 3 dogs and a cat and I'm a clean freak and this vacuum put my confidence back in cleaning the carpet. My dog is not as scared of this vacuum as well. I'm very satisfied with the company who renewed the vacuum back to manufacturer quality. I saw no cosmetic imperfections on my purchase and definitely wouldn't mind if there was. It's a great deal! Don't skip this product as a new purchase or renewed. This has been great since I moved to a house with no carpets. It's very maneuverable, it's pretty light, and the handle detachment mechanism is pretty great. I do kind of miss the retractable cord, but not enough to haul out the behemoth I had before this.I got this when I was still in a carpeted apartment, and if I went over the carpet wit this, it was great at picking up dog fur (husky mix, so you know when it's coat blowing season), but couldn't get all the dust out of the rug, and I still had to go over it with the $40 craigslist vacuum (why it's so good, I'll never know).I might have picked a different vacuum if I'd started my vacuum hunt after I was done with carpets, but it's done a good job since I moved.I love Shark Liftaways. The design seems to address all the little issues with Hoovers and the like. Hinges and buttons are designed for heavy use/many cycles instead of breaking right away. Steel is used where needed instead of plastic. The canister empty system is easy as is the liftaway. The wand and base lighting is terrific and smart. Cord length is good. Base has an easy access cover to enable roller brush clearing as needed. Thumb switch for carpet depth or bare floor is in just the right place. Filter cleaning is easy as is reassembly. My only complain is the tool caddy--things fall off of it too easy.
